Types of the Ultrasonic Flaw Detector Probe (2)

Types of the Ultrasonic Flaw Detector Probe (2)

There are many kinds of the ultrasonic flaw detector probe. The common types of the probe in daily use are as follows.

1. Ultrasonic flaw detector probe for surface waves

This is one of the ultrasonic flaw detector probe used for transmitting and receiving surface waves. The surface wave is a wave propagating along the surface of the workpiece. The amplitude of the surface wave decreases rapidly with the increase of the depth under the surface. The propagation speed of the surface wave is 0.9 times that of the S-wave. The vibration track of the particle is ellipse.

2. Detachable and oblique ultrasonic flaw detector probe

It is a special type of the oblique probe. The oblique probe is divided into two parts: the oblique block and the probe core, which are combined when used.

3. Ultrasonic flaw detector probe for non-metal detection

It is used to detect non-metallic materials, such as concrete, wood and rock. It is used in pairs, one for transmitting and the other for receiving. The working mode is transmission.

4. Double-crystal ultrasonic flaw detector probe

It is a probe with two wafers, one as transmitter and the other as receiver. It is also known as a split probe, or a combined double-probe. The double-crystal probe is mainly composed of socket, shell, sound insulation layer, transmitting chip, receiving chip and delay block. A vertical longitudinal wave beam is used to scan the workpiece. According to the ultrasonic flaw detector theory, this type of product has a better effect for for rough or curved detection surface. 5. Ultrasonic flaw detector probe with water-immersion

It is used in semi-automatic or automatic flaw detection system. When the axis of the acoustic beam emitted by the probe is perpendicular to the detection surface, the straight acoustic beam from the longitudinal wave scans and checks the workpiece. If the axis of the probe is adjusted to form a certain angle with the detection surface, and the sound beam refracts at the interface of water and workpiece, oblique transverse wave beam can be generated in the workpiece to scan the workpiece. By processing the organic glass or cured epoxy resin in front of the probe chip into a certain radian, the probe with water-immersion with point focus or line focus can be obtained.
