Common Faults and Cause Analysis of Eddy Current Separator

Eddy current separator is a relatively mature non-ferrous metal sorting equipment. In 2008, it was imported from the United States and developed in China. Further research and development was carried out according to national conditions. In 2010, the equipment began to be finalized and officially put into production. It is mainly used to sort non-ferrous metal copper and aluminum in waste non-ferrous metal crushed materials. What are the common faults of non-ferrous metal eddy current separator in use?

We have made the following statistics on the common faults and causes of eddy current separators:

Ⅰ. Bearing failure of non-ferrous metal eddy current separator

The main symptoms of bearing system failure are abnormal noise in the bearing and the inability of the bearing to rotate.

The main reasons for bearing failure are as follows:

1. The equipment structure is unreasonable, the whole motor balance is not handled properly, and the bearing cannot be used.

2. Bearings are not pure imports, high-speed bearings, high imitation bearings and ordinary domestic bearings wear too fast.

3. The lack of oil at the high-speed bearing position causes the bearing wear and heat caused by the lack of regular oiling as required.

4. Insufficient experience in equipment production and unreasonable bearing position design cause serious bearing wear.

Ⅱ. The barrel skin and belt of the magnetic wheel of the eddy current separator are faulty

The main manifestation of the failure of the casing and the belt is smoke, and the casing and the belt are damaged. The main reasons for the failure of the magnetic stick barrel and belt are as follows:

1. Iron or metal is fed into the place where the roller of the eddy current separator meets the belt

When the belt and the drum are in the handover position, after the metal is fed, especially the iron will heat up under the magnetic mixing force, which will burn the casing and the belt, causing damage to the casing and the belt.

2. There is iron powder or rust adsorption on the surface of the eddy current separator drum

When there is a lot of iron powder and rust on the surface of the sorting drum, the iron powder will always be adsorbed on the surface of the drum, and will continue to heat up under the force of the drum, because it will accelerate the wear of the drum skin and cause damage to the drum skin. After that, the iron powder and rust will enter into the magnetic mixing under the suction of the drum.

Solution: Regularly observe whether there is metal or foreign matter at the interface between the magnetic stick and the belt. When there is metal or foreign matter, clean up the metal or foreign matter in time. Most of the iron powder and rust on the magnetic spoke surface of the eddy current separator should be cleaned in time. The magnetic mixing can be cleaned up first in the shift shift, and the service life of the normal maintenance drum belt is more than 3 years.

Eddy current separator is BKN's flagship product, suitable for rapid separation of bearing cracks, mixed materials, hardness deviation and burns. The whole system consists of test equipment, test probes, mechanical and electrical parts, which realizes automatic defect detection, automatic sorting and automatic alarm.
