Actual Inspection of Pipelines and Pipelines in Service

The China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Center used the InCotest-type pulsed eddy current detector manufactured in the Netherlands to conduct actual tests on the condensate pipelines in service of an oil and gas separation plant and the steam pipelines in a thermal power plant. In the state where the protective layer and the thermal insulation layer are not removed, two corrosion defects are found when the internal pipeline is detected by the pulsed eddy current technique, and the measurement results of the two corrosion depths by the pulsed eddy current method are used, and the conditions of the deprotection layer and the heat insulating material are used. Compared with the ultrasonic measurement results, the maximum error is 0.69 mm and 0.64 mm, respectively, which can meet the requirements of engineering test standards.
